I stand with the Unity Caucus because of its experienced and steady leadership. In this time of uncertainty and complexity, Unity has the knowledge and expertise to navigate our profession's many challenges and uncertainties.
I stand with Unity because of its robust advocacy and work that have advanced our profession and the interests of UFT members. For example, over the last few years, Unity, with its deep bench of elected and rank-n-file leadership, has tenaciously worked toward measures to reduce class size, is working on improving paraprofessional pay, made strides to enhance tier six, improved the quality of our welfare fund benefits, and listen to teachers' voices to improve NYC new curricula implementations, among other accomplishments.
I stand with Unity because of its tireless efforts to encourage all members to participate actively in the Union’s activities and decision-making. Members' engagement ranges from participation in contract negotiation committees, a voice at the monthly delegate assembly, and a plethora of professional development to support the work of its members, or engaging through diverse communication channels and opportunities beyond the regular work environment, Unity consistently empowers members.
I stand with Unity because the work is never finished. Based on its long track record of accomplishments, I am confident that Unity will continue to lead with determination and will never rest in its pursuit of a better future for our profession.
