✊ The Fight to Fix Tier 6 Reaches New Heights
Our Fix Tier 6 in 2026 campaign hit a massive milestone this week. On Sunday, March 8th, the UFT and Unity Caucus led a sea of 15,000 union members from across the state in a unified demand for pension reform.
The Message: Workers deserve a pension that reflects their dignity and respect.
The Support: We were joined on the front lines by key politicians, celebrities, and fellow union presidents from across New York State.
The Promise: We chanted it then, and we mean it now—“We won’t quit until we Fix Tier Six!”
💙 Celebrating Our Paraprofessionals and Respect Check Update
On Saturday, March 7th the union celebrated the invaluable contributions of our paraprofessionals! During a day of recognition and celebration, the union reinforced its commitment to the paraprofessionals of New York City to continue fighting to address the inequities of pattern bargaining. City Council Speaker, Julie Menin proudly confirmed her unwavering support for the reintroduced Para Respect Check Bill. On Monday, March 9th, the Bill went to a hearing before City Council and was very well received (see agenda and video).

🗳️ Election Alert: Reelect Tom Brown for TRS Board
The UFT Executive Board, Delegate Assembly, and Unity Caucus have endorsed Tom Brown for teacher-member trustee of the TRS Board. With decades of union leadership, he has helped strengthen members’ pensions and protect retirement security. Eligible TRS members, vote for Tom Brown this May.
